Sledgehammer Games Co-Founder Glen Schofield Has Joined PUBG Corp New Studio


Glen Schofield, former head of EA's Visceral Games studio and the co-founder of Sledgehammer Games, worked for years on Call of Duty for Activision Blizzard parted ways with Activision at the end of 2018. PUBG Corporation has announced that Glen Schofield is joining as the chief executive officer of a Striking Distance, a new triple-A development studio based in San Ramon, California.

Schofield left Activision Blizzard at the end of 2018. Last year, Glen and the other Sledgehammer co-founder Michael Condrey left Sledgehammer. Michael also left Activision Blizzard and he is now working at 2K.




In the video, Schofield ran down the highlights on his career, which includes the development of Dead Space, Modern Warfare 3, Advanced Warfare, and WWII. "But now I'm looking to take those experiences to explore new designs and concepts," he said. "As a creative, the freedom to explore the PUBG universe has me excited about the possibilities, which we view as beyond battle royale."

Schofield said the studio will develop "an original narrative in the PUBG universe,"clarifying that it will not be a sequel to PUBG. Striking Distance will work on “an original narrative experience within the PUBG universe.”



“Freedom to explore the PUBG universe has me excited about the possibilities,” Schofield said, “which we view as beyond battle royale.”

“That vision is taken to the next level as our development and service portfolio expands and diversifies with Glen Schofield and Striking Distance,” said PUBG Corporation’s CEO, C.H. Kim. “We are thrilled to welcome Glen to the company. His unique blend of proven leadership and boundless creativity will help us create great synergy.”
