Dauntless Leaving Early Access With A Big Update On September 26th

The free-to-play game Dauntless is finally launching out of early access on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 26th. Phoenix Labs announced that the game will officially launch version 1.0, alongside a new seasonal expansion called Aether Unbound.

It's one of the first titles to offer cross-platform play across those consoles and PC, and the servers were overwhelmed with people trying to check out the free-to-play RPG.

"In 2014 we started Phoenix Labs with a vision. We were 7 developers who believed in redefining the way players shared their gaming experiences. Now in 2019 we’re over 100 strong, and you – the Dauntless community – have been with us every step of the way.

Sept 26th marks a special celebration for Slayers everywhere. Dauntless will leave early access and launch 1.0 with its latest patch, Aether Unbound. As we look back on the last 5 years, we reflect on just how amazing the journey with you has been. On behalf of everyone at Phoenix Labs, thank you for joining us on this adventure."

The 1.0 patch will roll out September 26th, kickstarting the next season of Dauntless called Aether Unbound. The update will bring a new weapon called the aether strikers, Hunt Pass, and a new Dire Behemoth "Tempestborne Stormclaw" to hunt. It will also introduce a new bounty system, giving you a new way to get experience for your hunts.

"Aether Unbound celebrates the culmination of the last 5 years of Dauntless development, but it is also the next step in our journey together. We have even more exciting content coming soon this year and beyond. More Behemoths, more weapons, more challenges, and more ways to slay."Phoenix Labs CEO Jesse Houston wrote in a letter.

The studio notes that it has more updates already in the works, and has laid out a public roadmap for future updates. The game is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch release coming this year.
